NAME: Jean Van Nostrand SCHOOL: Golden View Elementary CLASS: 2nd & 3rd Grade Combo Class, Room 10 SCHOOL PHONE: (925) 855-2700 I currently live in San Ramon with my husband, Curtis, and my dog (Liberty). I have lived in San Ramon since 1982 with my children, James, Debra, and Amy. James and Debra were in the first classes at Golden View. James was in 2nd grade and Debra was in Kindergarten when Golden View opened. Amy also attended Golden View when she started school. We started Cub Scout pack 203; my first husband (Pete Beall) was the Scoutmaster and I was the first Committee Chair. I grew up in a small farming community in Oregon. There were only 72 people in my graduating class. I go to my childhood home every summer for several weeks while I take classes and prepare for the next year. I have four brothers (two older, and two younger) and my parents raised blueberries. I earned my Bachelor’s degree and teaching credential from Cal State East Bay. My BS is in Business Administration and I was a tax accountant for a while. I also hold a science credential. My Master’s degree in School Administration was earned at University of Phoenix. Some things I like to do are: going to the theater, going to baseball games (Let's go A's!), camping, cooking, touring the United States, and rock hunting. I believe that art and music are a very important part of becoming a well-educated person. I have been teaching at Golden View since 2000. I was the science specialist for 12 years and I taught a 5th grade bilingual class for one year at a school in Salem, OR. I have high expectations for all of my students and I have found that students work to those expectations. I like to look for the positive in all situations and I LOVE teaching!! |
